Hi! My name is Mindy and I suffered from Perthes as a child. I'm 38 and am now starting to feel allot of pain. I'm sure working on my feet all my life didn't help. I do have one leg shorter. I was always determined to be normal after people feeling sorry for me as a child. Its back with a vengeance. Some days after work I cant get back up after sitting. Ive had two knee surgery's and i don't think exercise is much of an option. I'm at a crossroad but finding this site is a good thing. So hello to everybody.

Hi Mindy
The best exercise you could be doing is swimming.
Alternatively, it might be time to be looking at repairing any damage that perthes has left, as I have just done. I had my right hip replaced last week and although I'm sore and in recovery still from the surgery, its nice not to have that full-on deep bone ache anymore. As time goes on, the pain from the surgery will subside and its all uphill from there!
I set up an adult perthes website if you're interested - contact me directly at perthesnz@yahoo.com.au and I will organise that for you.
Cheers
Donna
