hey!! im chaya and im 16. i had perthes 5 years ago when i was eleven and i was treated with an external fixator. i am happy to say that now i am doing great! i still have pain sometimes from imflamation and my mobility is definitely not the same, but im really loving life! unlike most girls, i love my scars! i think they show character and i tell everyone i was bitten by a shark on the beach! (and everyone believes me!) i dont know about everyone else but i erally feel like having perthes helped me grow up and i love having hadthe experience (although it definitely wasnt fun while it lasted!!!) since perthes i've been head of a dance in junior high and ive been in the dances in high school. I love aerobics and yoga and i would love to be an aerobic instructor when im older!(besides for being a doctor which this experience also inspired!!)
obviously it would have been nice if my life just went smoothly, but five years later, the times i remember most from my whole perthes experience, are all good memories!
i actually came across this blog while i was doing an essay on this experience for school, and i just want all of u people who are going through this now, and i know its a nightmare, and i know the pain and i know the feeling of waking up with two new infections when you just got rid of the last one, and i remember slipping onto my fixator, and i remember the inability to do virtually anything yourself and i know the different really scary thoughts you might have! i really do! i just wanted to give you a possible "five years later" glimpse and i hope ypur experience is even better than mine!
good luck!!!!
