Being 29, very active and riddled with back and hip pain chronically, I still live a "good" life! I wish I could sit down with every kid diagnosed with LCP and help them get through in a positive way what so many of us have gone through. For 3 months now I have been on top of the world training for my first 5k race in 3 weeks. Yes, a RUNNING race!! Then the pain hit me. Just like when I was 10. I feel so handicapped, but I know with the right care and therapy I can run my race and I can get over this handicap feeling. I believe with support groups, blogs, and threads like these we can all share information and stories and make it through what will only seem like a minor blip on our radar screens of life.

hey how are you! im 16 and i had perthes five years ago when i was eleven and i got treated with an external fixator. last year at my last doctors visit my surgeon told me that if i get these pains in my hip its most likely because my femur still isnt a completely perfect ball and it sometimes still rubs against my hip socket. he said that this causes inflamation and if that happens i should take ibuprofen around the clock for a week. the other option would be another major invasive surgery which wouldnt have a guaranteed result and would anyway have up to a years recovery if not more:) i dont know if this is your situation because you werent that clear but i do love your attitude towards it! if this helps you let me know because after almost a year my hip started hurting again just like when i was eleven just two days ago! the ibuprofen has already helped and im going to start abducting tonight again!
